NATSO, the national trade association representing the country’s truckstops and travel plazas, is reaching out to the future leaders of the industry with training-focused learning opportunities during The NATSO Show in Savannah, Ga., Feb. 2-6, at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center.

NATSO first launched the Future Leaders program earlier this year. The program aims to connect people with the resources and opportunities to become successful leaders within their operation and within NATSO. Neither age nor experience defines a future leader. What does is a desire to develop as a successful leader within the industry. The Future Leaders program is sponsored by Valvoline.

NATSO has developed four future leaders sessions. They are:
Good People Equals Good Retail: We spend a lot of time teaching our employees how to take care of our customers and limited time taking care of them. In this session Michelle Fenton will show attendees how to create a great work environment that is personally rewarding and attracts repeat business.

Manage Your Vendors
: Good vendor relationships are partnerships that result in tips on items selling well for other locations, mutually beneficial contracts, innovative idea exchanges and more. Darren Schulte, NATSO’s vice president, membership, will teach attendees how to harness the power of their vendors.

Hire the Right People and Set Them Up for Success
: The best businesses excel at two human resource practices: hiring the right people and investing in their capabilities. This session by Darren Bateman will help attendees acquire the skills to build and support a productive, motivated and driven employee force.

Fundamental Leadership Skills: Do you believe that the people you manage are full of potential? More importantly, do you know how to draw out their great ideas? Using an innovative mix of a pre-Show video and onsite interaction with fellow operators, this session facilitated by Jeffrey Cufaude will provide the techniques to engage other people’s best contributions.

Also during the show, the Future Leaders group will host a Super Bowl party, sponsored by CAT Scale Co. and DAS Distributors, and a happy hour.

The NATSO Show 2013 is scheduled to be held Feb. 2-6 at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center.
